mp3.com.au This is an Australian based MP3 site that has no problem with copyright as the artists whose works appear have consented to the use of the material. Self Tort's original recordings appear, along with a number of other members of the Songwriting Society of Australia including BeNNeTT, Velvet Road and Christian Laki. Links to their sites also appear on this page of my site. Have a listen to their material.

BeNNeTT BeNNeTT is the recording and stage persona of Bennett Ackerman. Bennett is a member of the Songwriting Society of Australia, and also records his material at Sound Dog Studios. He performs regularly at the Songwriting Society's monthly concerts and also gigs around Sydney both as a solo act and as a member of Shadow.
I am very impressed with BeNNeTT's recorded work and have recommended that my son and daughter take a listen to his material - they are hipper than their father.

CHRISTIAN LAKI Christian Laki is a Sydney musician who has recently recorded an album Soul Survivor. It received rave reviews in Songsmith the monthly newsletter of the Songwriting Society of Australia.

SOUND DOG STUDIOS The Self Tort MP3s on this site were recorded at Sound Dog Studios in Artarmon, Sydney Australia with Stewart Havill producing, engineering, programming drums and bass (in a way which disguises that they have been programmed), playing the occasional keyboard, and coming up with the odd little twist which always seems just right.
Stewart provides discounted rates for members of the Songwriting Society of Australia. Whether you want a basic demo or a full blown CD I can recommend Sound Dog. Recording is done in a relaxed setting at remarkably cheap rates (I hope Stewart doesn't read that last bit) |

AUSTRALIAN SONGWRITING SOCIETY The Songwriting Society of Australia provides an avenue for songwriters or aspiring songwriters to meet with like minded people, share ideas, and promote original music. The society publishes a monthly newsletter, holds a monthly concert on the third Wednesday of each month at the Occidental Hotel in Sydney. It also from time to time holds Bite the Bullet sessions where members work is assessed by influential people in the music business. If you have an interest in songwriting, then, irrespective of your level of experience you will benefit from membership of this society. |
