NEWSLETTER 8
1 JULY, 2004
Well the monthly newsletter emerges again after an 8 month hiatus.
The purpose of this newsletter is twofold. Firstly to remind subscribers that the first Friday of the month occurs tomorrow and I will be on once more at the Mortdale Hotel. If you're in the area drop in, have a listen, say hello and share a drink.
Secondly, there have been significant changes to the website in the last week or so with lots of new samples added. These include:
-
Three songs written for children - I wrote these years ago but have only recently got around to recording them. They are 'I HATE HOMEWORK', 'FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT' and 'THE NAUGHTY WALL'. I still unfortunately have the 1meg limit on uploading files on the site and so I've had to break the songs up into 1 minute samples. The recordings are home recordings and not meant to be definitive.
-
A new song 'Get it Right This Time'. It's got a bit of a country feel and is, I think a fairly different type of song for me. Again, it's in 1 minute samples, and is a home recording. It needs reworking on the vocals and the addition of some lead guitar work but the present version gives a reasonable idea of where I see the song heading.
-
While on a 'country bent' I've done a reworking of 'Mid Life Crisis' taking it out of the 'minor blues boogie' and turning it into a country style lament. I'd be interested in the comments of subscribers.
-
A new instrumental tentatively called 'Morocco'. It has a middle eastern feel and is not likely to appeal to everyone but I enjoyed writing, arranging and recording it.
I have not included in the email links to the individual songs. I think its probably easier for you to just go to the homepage (by clicking here ) and then take the various links.
I've a few new songs for tomorrow night including a couple of Beach Boys ('God Only Knows' and maybe, depending on the amount of practice time I have tomorrow, 'Wouldn't It be Nice'), Eric Burdon's 'Spill the Wine', Bonzo Dog's 'I'm The Urban Spaceman', Madness' 'It Must be Love' Talking Head's 'Life During Wartime' and a couple of others I can't remember at the moment.
Have a browse around the site and the new material and let me have your comments, please.
Best Regards
