NEWSLETTER 6

3 SEPTEMBER, 2003

It seems like only 14 months ago that I sent the last newsletter. Doesn't time fly. You subscribers must be glad you don't pay to be a member of this site.

Sorry to you all for the delay, but I am pleased to advise that there have been some significant changes to the site. The following have been added in recent times:

  1. COVERS - this page contains samples of some of my live repertoire, including The Letter, Try a Little Tenderness, Beautiful Day, Have I Told You Lately That I Love You and many more.
  2. PICTURES - further pages have been added to this section with photos of my '50th Birthday Bash Jam', photos from Mortdale Hotel gigs (including photographs of the oldest roadies in the world), and of the 2003 Jack Bruce Congress where I played with Dennis Lawrenson on bass.
  3. VIDEOS - short video clips have been included on this page of Badge (Cream), Crossroads (Cream), Breakdown (Tom Petty), Walking (Gary Moore), Black Magic Woman (Santana), Feeling All Right (Joe Cocker) and The Letter (Joe Cocker).

In addition the LIVE REPERTOIRE page has been updated listing songs in their relevant genre, and there has been some general tidying up.

The 'COVERS' were recorded at Sound Dog Recording Studios at Artarmon. I have audio versions of the full songs and any subscriber who would like a copy of the CD of the full songs need only ask and I will send you one. They are not for sale, as the songs were recorded only for promotional purposes, but I'm happy to pass a free one to anyone who would like one.

For those who don't know, the recording of the 'covers' occurred the week following my coming off second best in a battle with a van. The ribs and chest were extremely painful and you might notice some shortage of breath in some of the songs.

Thankfully, everything now appears to have resolved without any ongoing disability (save for those disabilities which pre-existed at the time of the accident).

The day after the accident I travelled to Queensland to play at the 2003 Jack Bruce Congress at 'The Crazy Bull' Restaurant at Tugan. It was a fun night - the restaurant proprietor was Graham Eadie the former Manly and Australian Rugby League full-back. Graham and Leah were great hosts. Dennis Lawrenson played bass at the gig and appeared to have an absolute ball. It was hard getting him to stand in one place.

The monthly Mortdale gig takes place this Friday (5.9.03) so if you're in the area drop in, have a listen and say hello.

There has to date been little news of the Lugarno Over 35's Soccer Team in these pages to date. However, subscribers should be aware that last Sunday we won the preliminary final against Hurstville Glory 2-0. We now play Arncliffe Scots on Sunday in the Grand Final at St George Soccer Stadium. The time of the game is yet to be announced.

Subject to time constraints I hope to return to Sound Dog later this month or early next month. The plan is to finally record 'Fetish', 'Light the Flame' and an instrumental which as yet is untitled. I'll keep you posted. I really will. Trust me - I'm a lawyer.

Regards
