OCTOBER 18, 2006
Man, it never rains but it pours.
Sorry to dump a swag of newsletters on you in such a short space of time. But things are happening fairly quickly.
Firstly, I wasn't aware when I sent out yesterday's newsletter that 'Wenty Hotel' had in fact reached No 1 on the mixposure 'all genres' chart. I wasn't expecting it, because I'd put the partly complete version up more to get suggestions for improvement than charting and there were a stack of great tracks bubbling around the top of the charts. I thought it had run it's race and then in one last gasp it got over the line.
I haven't checked tonight, but I doubt it's still there. But believe me, it was yesterday.
Anyway the other bit of news is that I've entered a couple of songs in Triple J's unearthed competition. There was a glitch along the way. I thought I'd posted them ages ago but hadn't. I was having difficulty choosing which tracks to post. Anyway after a lengthy delay they're now up and able to be listened to, rated and reviewed.
I know I'm stretching the friendship but if you could spare the time to give the tracks a play, a review or a rating I'd be much obliged. You will have to register to be able to take part in the voting but it's free and gives you the opportunity to take part in the whole shebang.
So please tell your friends, relatives, workmates or anyone you happen to bump into in the street to come in an vote 1 'Self Tort'.
My page is here.
I've posted 'Best Man' and 'Harlequin'. I've still got a spare slot for another track so would be interested in subscribers views as to the best track to add. I'm torn between
Six O'Clock Swill
Not Quite Kelly
Hardie's Men or
Once Is Enough.
I'd value your imput.
Also a good mate, Henry Correy, a blues vocalist/bassist from Wollongong has a page on the unearthed site. His link is here
Promise not to bother you for a few days.
